Solar
hot water heaters are proven and ready for the
market. With energy prices rising and no sign of
decline, we must increase awareness for alternative
energy. Solar thermal technology has improved and is
as efficient as natural gas by 70-
 |
80% efficiently
equivalent. The development of evacuated
tubes have for the most proven performance
high temperature collectors. As long there
is UV ray it absorb the sun radiation and
keeps the heat between the vacuum layers,
therefore sustain the temperature to keep
increasing as long as there is sunshine.
The hesitance of
acceptance were that it been treated like the solar
photovoltaics panel that require more area for large
collecting of sun radiations. Solar thermal
technology by evacuated tubes have been
accepted in large scale by Europe, Asia, and
the Caribbean. Unfortunately, in North
America Canada have yet to accept this into
our daily lives and we have the greatest
global warming effects the most as the
Northern have temperatures warming than
usual as iceberg are melting and wildlife
affected. The replacement of just hot water
supply do not seems to stimulate interest
|
| the great as the upfront cost of
an solar water heaters range from $3000.00-$3500.00.
But in long term actual savings are substantially
high to the investments. In Europe, realization of
savings are as high as $2500.00/year. In careful
study of utility bills cost are incurred by adding
delivery and customer charges to avoid actual cost
of gas each year. |
With introduction of
space heating generated by solar collector seems to
be more of trend as substantial amount goes to space
heating. Power generated from the sun have enough
energy to heat a home. Here is the calculation, we
received approximately 3.93kwh/m2/day in Toronto,
Ontario and by placing 2 collectors panels area
8.4m2 will generate 33.01kwh/m2/day= 112.636BTUs
which is more than sufficient for an average home
space.
Solar thermal
technology is the answer to hot water usage and
space heating. But the common question are will it
generate enough energy to heat during the winter
days when sunshine is the most least. The second
question will be that it will consume electric
energy. The winter days are getting more sunshine
days than usual and using the statistics the number
of days with sunshine are almost 60% to the cloudy
days. Now one must realized that global warming have
a lot to do with this, and generally speaking
sunshine days starts in March to late November and
thus leaving Dec-Feb which basically only 90days
period ,this leaving 54 days with cloudy period, Now
one must realized that by calculation the
sunshine days
are way greater already to cloudy days. The
back up electric heat does consume energy
but as compared to using natural gas
equivalent it is much cheaper. Lets say a
furnace is to heat a house space energy as
to a 1500watts (1.5kw) to heat a a 300 liter
storage tank that can heat a house space
with 16.5kw which is 56.320BTUs almost
common to average furnace.
The back up heat
element does not boil the water but sustain the
temperature of water and with no burnt residue.
The awareness and habitual usage will be the answer
to using solar thermal energy as we waste lots of
energy rather than conserve it as the mind set it
was inexpensive those days. |

Time has come that
awareness of energy are a main concern to our lives
and being able to seek alternative as long term will
be the thing to see in the near future.
The last main concern is the appeal look of a
storage tank in the roof ,and question like will it
damage the roof
and weatherproofing. Well generally speaking, it is
more of a set mind rather than structurielibility as
roof are usually have a life span of 15years top and
the total weight of the tanks are equal to 5-6
people in the roof, which we generally see roofers
with more than that on the roof. The appealing look
again if that is a common sight if your next door
neighbor installed 4 dish satellite dish. |
In Japan the tank in
roof are as common as a dish ,so is Greece which is
a growing rate of every 10 house 9
have the tank. So Basically it is a state of mind.
Solar Thermal system
comes in two types Direct and Indirect. Open system
which is known as direct, passive
because system are open loop and connect directly to
household hot water supply. This uses the thermo
siphon
theory that hot water rises and cold water sinks and
therefore tanks are always above collectors to
received the hot water. Direct usually are
inexpensive, reliable little or no maintenance at
all. Requires no moving parts and to suit sub zero
climate additional anti freeze protections are
required.
The indirect system are
also known as active closed loop which is suitable
for sub zero climates and uses anti freeze heat
transfer liquid (glycol) to a storage tank inside
the home. All the evacuated tubes operate with heat
pipe inside tube and transfer heat to manifold and
then to storage tank heat exchanger. This system is
more expensive as it requires more
 |
parts. Each applications no
matter how be design serve the performance
and depends on individual expectations. Will
all this be beneficial to user ,it will
definitely does saving in the long terms and
once proper installed system do not require
any maintenance and system usually outlive
the roof life span. Once getting used to it
,it will provide just like any hot water
supply could it be gas or electric.
Understanding that all
heat generated are by the high temperature evacuated
tube which is build with double layer vacuum tube
that absorb the UV and retained heat inside the tube
to sustain the heat exchanger. The creation of the
tube do not allow snow to be retain on tubes as the
temperature slight changes the snow slips of the
tubes with sunshine hits the tubes.
Wholesale and supplies
of solar thermal parts and heating. Solar collector
panels ,solar part and accessories, wall radiators
and floor heating parts. Complete supplies of all
heating application service and estimate on home
installations. Provide after sales service calls and
consultation to heating solutions. Will do
commercial project where involve large scale hot
water demand and swimming pools applications. The
collectors are connected in series and using a
closed loop to a heat exchanger (stainless steel) as
pools have chlorine chemicals that are erosive to
copper. Some system have a bypass to be able to use
that during winter where pool are not in use to
divert to a storage tank for radiant heat since
panels are up already. |
